Sound familiar?

You see the moment. The photo misses it.

  • You bought a nice camera and it has never left Auto.

  • Your kids are a blur by the time the shutter clicks.

  • Photos come out too dark, or the sky turns pure white.

  • You want that soft, blurry background and don’t know how to get it.

None of that needs a new camera. A better camera doesn’t make a better photographer. Knowing your camera does.

Don’t just read about it

Slide it and see

This is a real piece of the Aperture lesson. Open the lens and watch the background melt away.

Large opening: shallow depth of field

Every lesson has something to try: flip cards, a camera you can tap, an exposure slider with a live histogram, and a meter you center yourself.

What’s inside

Six modules, one lesson at a time

Each lesson takes about ten minutes to read, then you go shoot. Every one ends with a photo task and a question for your heart.

Photography means drawing with light, and God is light. Every lesson pairs a real skill with a question for your heart. You’ll even see the exposure triangle as a picture of the Trinity: ISO and the Father, aperture and the Son, shutter speed and the Holy Spirit.

Meet your teacher

Hi, I’m Dusty

I’m a follower of Jesus, a wife, a momma, a teacher and a photographer. I earned my fine art degree in photography from Arizona State University and have photographed families, newborns, children and seniors professionally for over 12 years.

This course is the camera foundations unit I teach my high school photography and yearbook students, rebuilt so you can learn it at home, one hands-on lesson at a time.

What families say about Dusty’s sessions

Behind the camera for over a decade

“Dusty has been photographing my family for 10 years and has captured so many beautiful memories. She was amazing when my kids were toddlers making them laugh and smile and can also connect with my moody teenagers.”

Mindy

“She has continued to capture photos of us for the past 11 years… She’s more than a photographer. She is a friend, she lovingly spends time getting to know the boys again, asking questions, laughing with them.”

Stephanie
Questions

Good to know

What camera do I need?

You’ll get the most from it with a camera that has a manual mode (DSLR or mirrorless): Modules 4 and 5 take you from Auto to fully manual. The light and exposure assignments work with a phone too.

Are there videos?

No videos. Each lesson is an interactive page you can open on your phone or computer. Read it, play with the demo, go shoot, come back.

How do I get the lessons?

Right after checkout you get access on Whop, in your browser or the Whop app. The lessons are organized by module, each one a tap away.

Where do my photos go?

They stay on your own device, in your browser. They aren’t uploaded to a server, so use the same phone or computer for the whole course.

Is it right for teens or homeschoolers?

It’s the same camera foundations unit Dusty teaches high school students, in plain language for complete beginners, so teens and adults can both follow it.

How long does it take?

About ten minutes to read each lesson, plus the time you spend shooting the task. Go at your own pace; you keep access.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final.
